在今年兩會上，全國人大代表、云南省大理白族自治州衛(wèi)生局副局長王瑛建議，加大婚檢宣傳力度，建立出生缺陷預(yù)防和阻斷機制，有效降低新生兒先天性缺陷的發(fā)生率。

Wang Ying, deputy to the NPC and vice-director of Yunnan Dali Health Bureau, has suggested the government encourage premarital health checks. Following the cancellation of compulsive premarital check-ups in 2003, fewer people have health checks before getting married and the congenital defect rate of new born babies is on the steep rise, she said during the two sessions.
全國人大代表、云南省大理白族自治州衛(wèi)生局副局長王瑛在兩會期間建議，政府應(yīng)加大婚檢宣傳力度。王瑛代表表示，自2003年強制婚檢取消以后，全國各地婚檢率明顯下降，而新生兒先天性缺陷的發(fā)生率大幅上升。
在上面的報道中，premarital health check和premarital check-up都是“婚前體檢”，簡稱“婚檢”。Premarital意即“婚前的”，比如，premarital cohabitation（婚前同居），premarital agreement（婚前協(xié)議）等；check-up在這里是“體格檢查”的意思，例如：have a regular check-up（作定期體格檢查）。Check-up也可以表示對其他事物的檢查，或表示“調(diào)查，審查”等意思。例如：The manager gave the store a final check-up before closing for the night.（經(jīng)理在晚上打烊前對商店做了最后檢查。）
如果婚檢結(jié)果表明雙方都健康，則可以放心去marriage registry（結(jié)婚登記處）登記結(jié)婚，領(lǐng)取marriage certificate（結(jié)婚證），并宣讀marriage vow（結(jié)婚誓詞）?，F(xiàn)在的newly-weds（新人）一般都會舉行wedding ceremony（結(jié)婚典禮），擺wedding banquet（喜宴），拍wedding photos（婚紗照）。但如今有許多80后也流行naked wedding（裸婚）。
