近日,有報(bào)道稱牛津字典將一些新興的網(wǎng)絡(luò)用語列為年度熱詞的候選,其中包括被網(wǎng)友戲稱為“微生物”(也就是形容愛好微博的網(wǎng)民)的tweep,還有我們今天要介紹的woot。
Woot is an interjection similar to "YAYE!" or "Woohoo!" used to express joy or excitement, usually about some kind of accomplishment. Primarily used by gamers, spreading rapidly to anyone who chats online.
Woot是跟“耶!”或“噢吼!”等感嘆詞類似一個詞,多用來表達(dá)欣喜或興奮之情(網(wǎng)友多用“狂喜”二字解釋woot),而且多在取得成就時使用。這個詞最初只是游戲玩家常用,后來又迅速傳播到網(wǎng)聊人群當(dāng)中。
Woot originated as a hacker term for root (or administrative) access to a computer. However, with the term as coincides with the gamer term, "w00t", which was originally a truncated expression common among players of Dungeons and Dragons tabletop role-playing game for "Wow, loot!" Thus the term passed into the net-culture where it thrived in video game communities and lost its original meaning and is used simply as a term of excitement.
Woot這個詞本來是黑客用語,指電腦的根登入系統(tǒng)(即管理員登入系統(tǒng))。不過,因?yàn)楦螒蛴谜Zw00t外形相似,才得以在網(wǎng)絡(luò)文化中傳播,興起于視頻游戲圈,之后脫離其原意而成為單純用來表示興奮之情的一個感嘆詞。游戲用語w00t是桌面角色扮演游戲《龍與地下城》的玩家常用的一個詞,是“Wow, loot!”(喔,贏了?。┻@兩個詞的縮略形式。
