Economic summit opens amid sluggish growth, trade disputes

Chinese President Xi Jinping called Sunday for leaders of the United States, Germany and other major economies to resist pressure to raise trade barriers as they opened a summit amid sluggish global growth and disputes.
中國國家主席習(xí)近平9月4日呼吁美國、德國及其他主要經(jīng)濟體領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人抵制實施貿(mào)易壁壘的壓力。G20峰會開幕之際，全球增長放緩，并出現(xiàn)貿(mào)易爭端。

Opening the two-day meeting in this lakeside city southwest of Shanghai, Xi called for more innovation to spur economic growth and reforms to global financial and economic management. He appealed for cooperation in taxes, anti-corruption and measures to “improve the ability of the world economy to resist risks.”
G20峰會于上海西南部湖畔城市杭州開幕，為期兩天。習(xí)近平主席提倡開展更多創(chuàng)新，推動經(jīng)濟增長，并呼吁對全球金融和經(jīng)濟管理進行改革。他呼吁各經(jīng)濟體在稅收和反腐層面進行合作，并采取措施“增加全球經(jīng)濟抵抗風(fēng)險的能力?！?/p>

Language tips:

貿(mào)易壁壘（trade barriers）又稱貿(mào)易障礙，指的是對國外商品勞務(wù)交換所設(shè)置的人為限制，主要是指一國對外國商品勞務(wù)進口所實行的各種限制措施，一般分非關(guān)稅壁壘（non-tariff barrier）和關(guān)稅壁壘（tariff barriers）兩類。

Barrier既可以指具體的柵欄、障礙，也可以指抽象的屏障、分界、隔閡，比如age barrier（年齡障礙）、language barrier（語言障礙）、racial barrier（種族隔閡）等等。
