A fish pedicure is a beauty treatment that involves immersing the feet in a tank of water containing Garra rufu fish, which nibble off dead and thickened skin.
魚療（fish pedicure）是一種美體方式，主要做法是將雙腳浸在有墨頭魚（也稱“醫(yī)生魚”）游弋的水池中，讓這些小魚啃食除去足部的死皮和老繭。
Because the water used in these treatments holds living fish, conventional methods of decontamination and sterilisation cannot be used. With the recent increase in the number of establishments offering this treatment, a growing number of people – including salon owners, environmental health officers and members of the public – have voiced concerns about the potential for transmission of infection. In some countries, the practice has been banned, although there is little evidence of the potential public health risk in scientific literature on the subject.
因為魚療池中養(yǎng)著活魚，所以不能采取傳統(tǒng)的殺菌消毒措施。隨著提供魚療服務(wù)的機(jī)構(gòu)不斷增加，美容機(jī)構(gòu)業(yè)主、環(huán)境衛(wèi)生官員以及公眾都開始擔(dān)憂魚療可能會導(dǎo)致病菌感染。有些國家已經(jīng)下令禁止魚療。不過，目前尚無科學(xué)研究證明魚療對公共健康有潛在的威脅。
