美國(guó)駐中國(guó)大使駱家輝20日上午發(fā)表聲明，宣布辭職。他在香港《南華早報(bào)》刊登聲明，稱擔(dān)任駐華大使是他的榮耀，他為美國(guó)外交官員在中國(guó)的工作感到驕傲。

US Ambassador Gary Locke said on Wednesday that he will step down from his position early next year to rejoin his family.
美國(guó)駐華大使駱家輝周三表示，他將于明年年初卸任，回美國(guó)與家人團(tuán)聚。
Step down from his position表示離開(kāi)他的工作崗位，即“離職，卸任”，也可用leave office表示。英語(yǔ)中有關(guān)“辭職”的表達(dá)常見(jiàn)的就是resign，指很正式地宣布放棄自己的工作或職位，如：He resigned from his job as principal of the school（他辭去了校長(zhǎng)的職務(wù)）。另一個(gè)常見(jiàn)的搭配resign oneself則表示“不得不接受一個(gè)并不令人愉快的事實(shí)”，如：We resigned ourselves to the fact that we were going to lose the game（我們不得不承認(rèn)這場(chǎng)比賽我們贏不了）。口語(yǔ)中說(shuō)到“辭職”時(shí)通常會(huì)用quit，比如：He quit his job（他辭職了）。
駱家輝在聲明中表示，擔(dān)任駐華大使是其一生的榮耀（the honor of a lifetime），并稱在任期間，美國(guó)駐華大使館主要致力于通過(guò)提高美國(guó)對(duì)華出口來(lái)增加美國(guó)國(guó)內(nèi)的就業(yè)機(jī)會(huì)（job creation in America by increasing exports to China），為美國(guó)企業(yè)打開(kāi)更多的市場(chǎng)，增加中國(guó)在美投資（promoting Chinese investment in the US）。通過(guò)將簽證獲取的等待時(shí)間（wait times for a visa）從歷史最高的70至100天降至3到5天，大幅度提高了中國(guó)人到美國(guó)商務(wù)和觀光旅游（business and tourism travel）的數(shù)量。
