隨著國(guó)慶的腳步日益臨近，各項(xiàng)準(zhǔn)備工作逐步就緒。天安門城樓兩側(cè)觀禮臺(tái)前數(shù)百平方米的臨時(shí)觀禮臺(tái)已搭建完畢，國(guó)慶新聞中心也開(kāi)始正式運(yùn)行。

9月17日，北京天安門城樓前的臨時(shí)觀禮臺(tái)上鋪上了紅毯。這個(gè)臨時(shí)觀禮臺(tái)是為即將到來(lái)的慶祝中華人民共和國(guó)建國(guó)六十周年而進(jìn)行的十一國(guó)慶閱兵搭建的。
文中的temporary viewing stand就是指“臨時(shí)觀禮臺(tái)”，搭建在Tian'anmen Rostrum（天安門城樓）前方。為確保國(guó)慶閱兵和聯(lián)歡順利進(jìn)行，Tian'anmen Square（天安門廣場(chǎng)）、Forbidden City（故宮）等iconic venues（地標(biāo)式景點(diǎn)）將臨時(shí)關(guān)閉。很多游客還希望在國(guó)慶期間去看flag raising ceremony（升旗儀式）。
十一當(dāng)天，國(guó)家領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人和貴賓將在Tian'anmen Rostrum上觀看military and civilian parade（軍隊(duì)閱兵和群眾游行），當(dāng)天晚上，還將舉辦一場(chǎng)gala event（節(jié)日聯(lián)歡），Tian'anmen Square 東側(cè)的China National Museum（國(guó)家博物館）還搭建了observation deck（觀望臺(tái)）供游客欣賞廣場(chǎng)盛景。此外，廣場(chǎng)東側(cè)還設(shè)立了command center（指揮中心），負(fù)責(zé)國(guó)慶安保工作。
