Feel the pinch這個(gè)短語(yǔ)一般都用來(lái)形容財(cái)政困難，手頭拮據(jù)等狀況，作此解釋也是源于pinch這個(gè)詞有“困境、困苦”等意思。If someone is short of money or feeling restricted in some other way, they are feeling the pinch.

Shopkeepers are beginning to feel the pinch because no one has a lot of money to spend these days.
