A rock concert in Belgium turned deadly when a violent storm struck the outdoor festival, leaving at least five people dead. A storm struck a rock concert in the US state of Indiana, also killing five people.
Tell Me More
“Rock” is the shortened version of rock ‘n’ roll, which describes a popular form of music. So a word that means stone also means concerts featuring rock ‘n’ roll bands like The Rolling Stones.
Rock is also used to describe an especially large, flashy ring. Example: “Did you see the size of that rock on her finger?” Police will tell you that “rock” today is the slang word for the especially dangerous illegal drug crack cocaine.
Rock can be used to describe something that is fun or wonderful. As in, “My dad just bought me a car. My dad rocks.” If your friend is always dependable, you can say, “My friend is a rock.” If you say, “Don’t rock the boat,” that means don’t cause trouble. But if you say, “He rocks my world,” that means he’s amazing.
Did you see the size of that rock on her finger?
My dad just bought me a car. My dad rocks. My friend is a rock。 但如果你說He rocks my world,那就表示他很迷人。
