Salesman: I know you wanna see my band.
Carl: No.
Carl: (To a client) Sorry.
Stephanie: Hello?
Carl: Stephanie?
Stephanie: Carl.
Carl: Yeah, it's me. Just felt like calling you. I was missing you, I guess. Weird, huh?
Stephanie: Yes, Carl. I have to go. Ted and I are taking a little boat ride.
Carl: Oh, that's great. Good for you. Good for you.
*************
Carl: Jesus, Pete. I'm not in or I'm busy. Oh, come on. You're halfway through, just snap it off already. Pete? Hey. Where you been?
Peter: You not been getting my calls?
Carl: What? God, no. Oh, I totally lost my phone.
Peter: You're so full of shit.
Carl: Here it is.
Peter: Yeah. There it is. You know what, buddy? You missed my engagement party tonight.
Carl: Oh, no. Oh, shoot, you're kidding. That was tonight?
Peter: Mm-hm.
Carl: I'm so sorry, man. I totally gapped it. Listen, I'II make it up to you. I promise. I swear. You pick the day. Any day you want, we'll go out, we’ll swashbuckle.
Peter: What does that even mean?
Carl: I don't know.
Peter: This wasn't drinks at a bar, Carl. This was my engagement party. You only get married once.
Carl: I certainly wouldn't do it again.
Peter: I know, Carl. I know that Stephanie left you. And I know that you have issues because of it, but this isn't about you. It's about me. When's the last time you did anything fun? You always make excuses. "I don't wanna commit. I don't wanna be tied down." I mean, do you even know my fiancee's last name?
Carl: Yeah. Fisher. Fishman. Wait. Fishwall?
Peter: Fishwall? You think her name's Lucy Fishwall?
Carl: No? That's wrong?
Peter: It's Burns.
Carl: Burns?
Peter: It's Lucy Burns, Carl. And guess what? She doesn't like my best friend. I keep trying to think of reasons why she should, but you know what? I can't think of any.
Carl: Pete, I—
Peter: I don't wanna hear another excuse, Carl. Jesus. You do whatever you want. I'm just telling you, you don't change your life, you're gonna end up a lonely guy. A lonely guy, Carl. Lonely guy.
**************
Rooney: Hey, Carl.
Peter: Hey, Rooney, come here for a second. Carl looks a little odd to you? Is it me, or does it looks like he's kind of dead?
Rooney: Nope. No more than usual.
Peter: I don't know. I'm kind of leaning towards thinking he might actually be dead.
Rooney: I guess I never saw him a lot, so it's hard for me to tell the difference.
Peter: Yeah, that's true. He never did much. Wasn't a good friend. Wasn't a good anything. Are there more beers in the fridge?
Rooney: Sorry, last one.
Peter: Now, that's upsetting.
Carl: (Suddenly wakes up) What was that?
1. feel like doing sth.:
I don't feel like taking a tour.
This feels like silk.
It feels like years.
2. You're so full of shit:
I totally gapped that exam.(我完全忘記了要考試。)
5. make it up to sb.: (為某事)對(duì)某人做補(bǔ)償。
Thank you for buying me the ticket, I'll make it up to you later.
例如:tie the enemy down with gunfire(用炮火牽制敵人);be tied down to a schedule(受時(shí)間表的限制)。
Wasteful people usually end up in debt.(揮霍浪費(fèi)者最后往往負(fù)債。)
