Jack: You're the expert. I just work here. Looks pretty solid. Anyone we know?
Harry: I don't recognize the work, but he's a pro. Oh, he's cuttin' it close.
Jack: I don't like it.
Harry: Yeah, well, what's to like? Mac said we hold, so we hold. All right, pop quiz. The airport. Gunman with one hostage. He's usin' her for cover. He's almost to a plane. You're a hundred feet away. Jack.
Jack: Shoot the hostage.
Harry: What?
Jack: Take her out of the equation. Go for the good wound, and he can't get to the plane with her. Clear shot.
Harry: You're deeply nuts. You know that? "Shoot the hostage." Geez.
Jack: Harry, this is wrong. He's gonna blow it anyway.
Harry: Why?
Jack: I don't know. Gut feeling.
Harry: Well, right now Mac outranks your gut, so we sit.
Man: This is taking way too long.
Jack: How much you think that elevator weighs?
Harry: Jack, come on.
Jack: Maybe we can do something about those hostages.
Harry: We're not gonna shoot 'em, right?
Man: Hey, where are you going? What's going on?
Woman: Don't go! Don't leave us here!
Jack: No, we just take them out of the equation.
Harry: You sure it'll hold?
Jack: It'll hold.
Harry: Six minutes.
Mac: I can't get any more time. He's not talkin'! I need the goddamn money now!
Jack: Tell me again, Harry. Why did I take this job?
Harry: Aw, come on. Thirty more years of this, you get a tiny pension and a cheap gold watch.
Jack 問 Harry “我們是不是認(rèn)識干這事的人”,Harry 回答“I don’t recognize the work.”,意思就是從作案的情形上來看,“我沒認(rèn)出是誰干的”。

Cut it close 還可以表示“(金錢上)精打細(xì)算”,比如:I'm not going shopping today. I won't get paid for three days and I'd be cutting it close if I bought anything. 今天我不去購物。還有三天才發(fā)薪,如果我買了什么東西,就不得不精打細(xì)算啦。
