Presenters Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand both left the BBC in 2008 after they left lewd phone messages for Andrew Sachs about his granddaughter live on air. The BBC was flooded with complaints and calls for the pair to be sacked.

Ross' two BBC 1 programmes and Saturday Radio 2 programme were both removed from scheduling and he faced suspension with no pay for three months. He did not return to his position. Russell Brand quickly resigned.
