中國(guó)人民政治協(xié)商會(huì)議（簡(jiǎn)稱“人民政協(xié)”），是中國(guó)人民愛(ài)國(guó)統(tǒng)一戰(zhàn)線的組織，是中國(guó)共產(chǎn)黨領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的多黨合作和政治協(xié)商的重要機(jī)構(gòu)。人民政協(xié)由中國(guó)共產(chǎn)黨、各民主黨派、無(wú)黨派民主人士、人民團(tuán)體、各民族和各界的代表，臺(tái)灣同胞、港澳同胞和歸國(guó)僑胞的代表以及特別邀請(qǐng)的人士組成。

The CPPCC is a patriotic united front organization of the Chinese people, serving as a key mechanism for multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and a major manifestation of socialist democracy. At present, the CPPCC consists of representatives of the CPC and non-Communist parties, personages without party affiliation, and representatives of people's organizations, ethnic minorities and various social strata. It also has the representation of compatriots of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan, returned overseas Chinese, and specially invited people.

人民政協(xié)的主要職能是政治協(xié)商和民主監(jiān)督，組織參加政協(xié)的各黨派、團(tuán)體和各族各界人士參政議政。政治協(xié)商是對(duì)國(guó)家和地方的大政方針以及政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、文化和社會(huì)生活中的重要問(wèn)題在決策之前進(jìn)行協(xié)商和就決策執(zhí)行過(guò)程中的重要問(wèn)題進(jìn)行協(xié)商。
??? The main functions of the CPPCC are to conduct political consultation, exercise democratic supervision and participate in the discussion and the handling of state affairs. Political consultation covers major principles and policies proposed by the central and local governments and matters of importance concerning political, economic, cultural and social affairs.

民主監(jiān)督是對(duì)國(guó)家憲法、法律和法規(guī)的實(shí)施，重大方針政策的貫徹執(zhí)行，國(guó)家機(jī)關(guān)及其工作人員的工作，通過(guò)建議和批評(píng)進(jìn)行監(jiān)督。參政議政是政治協(xié)商、民主監(jiān)督的拓展和延伸，是組織參加政協(xié)的各黨派、各團(tuán)體和各族各界人士以多種形式參與國(guó)家政治生活的概括性表述。

Democratic supervision means to exercise, by means of offering suggestion and criticism, supervision over the implementation of the Constitution, other laws, regulations and major policies, and over the work of government agencies and their functionaries. Participation in discussing and handling state affairs means to organize CPPCC members of various parties, people's organizations, people of various ethnic minorities and other social groups to take part in the country's political, economic, cultural and social activities in whatever way they think fit.
