 給電腦跳“祈雨舞”？

咱們國家古代的傳說里常有鄉(xiāng)紳們帶著民眾一起祈雨的場(chǎng)面，祈雨的主角通常是口中念念有詞、貌似法力無邊的道士或巫師，他們燒香念咒、手舞足蹈，好像這樣就可以把信息傳遞給上蒼了。其實(shí)，在古希臘、古印度也都有類似的做法，人們把這樣的儀式行為統(tǒng)稱為rain dance（祈雨舞）。不過，到了信息時(shí)代，rain dance似乎已經(jīng)和祈雨沒什么關(guān)系了。
A rain dance is a ceremonial dance that is performed in order to invoke rain and to ensure the protection of the harvest.
祈雨舞（rain dance）是為了保證農(nóng)作物豐收而祈雨時(shí)跳的儀式型舞蹈。
In hacker’s jargon, rain dance refers to any ceremonial action taken to correct a hardware problem, with the expectation that nothing will be accomplished. This especially applies to reseating printed circuit boards, reconnecting cables, etc.
在電腦黑客詞典里，祈雨舞則指針對(duì)硬件問題所做的任何程序性、且不太有可能奏效的操作，尤指重置印刷電路板或重接線路等操作。
For example:
I can't boot up the machine. We'll have to wait for Greg to do his rain dance.
我的機(jī)器不能啟動(dòng)了。我們得等格雷格來做程序重置。
