一年前的春夏之交，復(fù)旦大學(xué)學(xué)生黃洋被同宿舍同學(xué)林森浩投毒致死一案震驚全國。今年2月，林森浩被法院認(rèn)定為犯有故意殺人罪，并被判處死刑。林森浩的辯護律師隨即提請上訴。現(xiàn)在二審近在眼前，復(fù)旦學(xué)生聯(lián)名為投毒者求情的新聞又引發(fā)熱議。

More than 170 students from Fudan University signed a petition pleading for leniency for a former postgraduate student who received the death sentence in February for killing his roommate by poisoning.
170多名復(fù)旦大學(xué)學(xué)生發(fā)出聯(lián)名求情信，請求對因投毒殺害室友而在今年2月被判處死刑的該校一名研究生從輕判決。
在英文中，“求情”多用plead或intercede表示，常見的搭配為plead/intercede with someone for something/someone（為某事或某人向某人求情），如：He interceded with the teacher for me.
我們平時說到對犯罪分子的懲罰原則時經(jīng)常會提到“寬嚴(yán)相濟”，這個原則在英語中可用tempering justice with mercy表示；另外，審訊嫌疑人時警方最常用的那句“坦白從寬，抗拒從嚴(yán)”則多用leniency to those who confess, severity to those who resist來表示。
