The public prosecution against Bo Xilai shows the clear-cut stance and strong determination of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to root out corruption, according to a commentary of the People's Daily.
《人民日報》評論文章稱，對薄熙來提起公訴表明了中國共產(chǎn)黨反對腐敗的鮮明立場和堅定決心。
Public prosecution（公訴）指人民檢察院（People’s Procuratorate）對犯罪嫌疑人的犯罪行為(criminal activity)向人民法院提出控告，要求法院通過審判確定犯罪事實、懲罰犯罪人的訴訟活動。濟南市人民檢察院起訴書（indictment）指控薄熙來涉嫌受賄（taking bribes）、貪污（embezzlement）、濫用職權(quán)(abuse of power)犯罪。
該評論文章指出，對這一案件的公訴，充分體現(xiàn)了重事實、講法治的精神（the spirit of respecting the facts and the rule of law），有力彰顯了法律的尊嚴和權(quán)威（the dignity and authority of law）。對薄熙來一案提起公訴再次表明，法律面前人人平等（all men are equal before the law），制度面前沒有例外（no exception will be made before regulations），誰都沒有超越法律的特權(quán)（nobody has the privilege to be placed above the law），誰都不能心存“刑不上大夫”的僥幸（no one should take the chance that ‘punishments are not for nobles’）。
