故事背景是以南美移民子女為主的洛杉磯加菲莆高中。原來(lái)任職電腦公司的伊斯克蘭特為施展抱負(fù)到該校任教，因該校經(jīng)費(fèi)拮據(jù)沒有電腦，只好改教數(shù)學(xué)。他用強(qiáng)悍的教學(xué)方式臺(tái)階馴服了以菲利浦為首的頑劣學(xué)生，并幫他們以高分通過了越級(jí)考試，不料竟被人懷疑為集體作弊。學(xué)生們?yōu)榱顺吻逭`會(huì)決定重考，師生之間合作無(wú)間，終創(chuàng)下合格人數(shù)之最高紀(jì)錄，也為該校爭(zhēng)取到購(gòu)賣電腦的經(jīng)費(fèi)。
