 南方“強(qiáng)降雨”

國家防汛抗旱總指揮部辦公室統(tǒng)計(jì)顯示，截至目前，發(fā)生在南方部分省份的今年首次大范圍強(qiáng)降雨已造成貴州、湖南、廣西、江西等省區(qū)期53人死亡、28人失蹤，詳細(xì)災(zāi)情仍在進(jìn)一步核查中。

Fifty-three people have died in accidents triggered by torrential rains over the past week in China, while another 28 were missing and 4,000 were stranded by floods.
上周的強(qiáng)降雨已經(jīng)導(dǎo)致53人死亡，另有28人失蹤，4000人被困受洪災(zāi)影響。
The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters issued a warning urging provinces to keep a close watch on the changing weather and act to avert possible danger.
國家防汛抗旱總指揮部發(fā)出預(yù)警，要求各省密切關(guān)注天氣變化并采取行動避免潛在危險(xiǎn)的發(fā)生。
上述報(bào)道中，torrential rain就是“強(qiáng)降雨”，torrential的意思是resembling a torrent in force and abundance（如急流的，猛烈的），常用來形容降雨的強(qiáng)度；另外一個與之相關(guān)的常見表達(dá)是torrential wash（大雨、急流沖刷），例如：Heavy rainfall and torrential wash cleaned the whole city thoroughly. （強(qiáng)降雨和大量的雨水沖刷徹底清潔了這座城市。)
另外，這里有一個機(jī)構(gòu)名稱需要提出來說一下，The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters是“國家防汛抗旱總指揮部”，也就是我們所簡稱的“防總”。
