 用戶為WinXP網(wǎng)上“請愿”

按照微軟公司的計劃，Windows XP操作系統(tǒng)將在今年六月正式告別商店柜臺，相關(guān)技術(shù)支持也將在2014年4月前全面取消。這一消息引發(fā)了WindowsXP愛好者的不滿。目前已有多項拯救XP的行動展開。

Microsoft is receiving substantial pushback against Windows Vista. Resistance is strong enough that InfoWorld Executive Editor Galen Gruman has launched a "Save Windows XP" online petition that has received more than 100,000 responses.
微軟近來接到大量對于Windows Vista系統(tǒng)的抵制意見。因抵制意見很廣泛，“信息世界”的主編蓋倫?格魯曼發(fā)起了一個“拯救Windows XP”的網(wǎng)絡(luò)請愿活動，目前已得到10萬多人響應(yīng)。
該報道中，petition 指a formally drawn request, often bearing the names of a number of those making the request, that is addressed to a person or group of persons in authority or power, soliciting some favor, right, mercy, or other benefit，一般譯為“請愿，申請，祈求”或者“請愿書，陳情書”，比如：petition for divorce（離婚申請），petition for naturalization（入籍申請），petition for appeal（起訴狀）等。Petition也可以用作動詞，表示“請求，向…請愿”的意思。
例如：
She petitioned her neighbor to turn down the radio.
她請求鄰居把收音機關(guān)小點聲。
We're petitioning for our right to keep a school in our village.
我們?yōu)樵诖逯斜Ａ粢凰鶎W校的權(quán)利進行請愿。
