Vice-Premier Huang Ju'sremainswere cremated in Beijing yesterday.
Huang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, died of illness at 2:03 am on June 2 in Beijing at the age of 69.
The remains of the meal littered the table.(剩飯撒了一桌子。) 此外,“remains”還可用來指“殘骸、遺物”,如:the remains of an aircraft(飛機殘?。?,literal remains(遺稿)。
案鎰e”一般用動詞詞組“to pay last respects to/to bid farewell to”,但在該短語中,“遺體”一般用人指代,如:
Top leaders, including President and Party General Secretary Hu Jintao, paid their final respects to Huang Ju yesterday at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery .(昨天,國家主席胡錦濤等中央領(lǐng)導人都前往八寶山革命公墓向黃菊的遺體進行告別。)
或者,“向遺體告別”也可表達為“to bid farewell at the coffin”。
