The film's critical acclaim and box-office success signaled the beginning of a revival in the motion-picture industry. In the 1970s, a new generation of directors that included Coppola, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese began to reshape Hollywood studios and redefine the blockbuster phenomenon.
