12月1日，我國(guó)開始在五個(gè)城市啟動(dòng)新能源汽車號(hào)牌試點(diǎn)工作，此舉意在推廣新能源汽車，緩解能源及環(huán)境壓力。

Different from the traditional blue license plates, the new ones are green and 40mm wider than conventional plates. The special plates have an additional digit.
與傳統(tǒng)的藍(lán)色號(hào)牌不同，新能源汽車號(hào)牌為綠色，比傳統(tǒng)號(hào)牌寬40毫米，而且比傳統(tǒng)號(hào)牌多一個(gè)號(hào)碼。

新能源汽車（new energy vehicles，NEV）主要包括純電動(dòng)汽車(blade electric vehicles, 簡(jiǎn)稱BEV)，插電式混合動(dòng)力汽車（plug-in hybrid electric vehicle，簡(jiǎn)稱PHEV），以及燃料電池電動(dòng)汽車（fuel-cell electric vehicles）。

新能源車專用號(hào)牌（special plates for new energy vehicles）式樣在設(shè)計(jì)時(shí)體現(xiàn)了“綠色環(huán)?！保╡nvironment-friendly）寓意，以綠色為主色調(diào)，并增加了NEV專用標(biāo)識(shí)。與普通汽車號(hào)牌相比，新能源汽車號(hào)牌在工本費(fèi)、發(fā)牌機(jī)關(guān)代號(hào)(各省、區(qū)、市簡(jiǎn)稱和代碼)不變的情況下，號(hào)碼增加了1位。此前，公安部曾經(jīng)對(duì)新能源車型號(hào)牌的三個(gè)樣式向公眾征集意見，此次試點(diǎn)使用的樣式為，小型新能源汽車號(hào)牌底色采用漸變綠色，大型新能源汽車號(hào)牌底色采用黃綠雙拼色。

新能源車輛號(hào)牌選號(hào)分為兩種：一種是新車注冊(cè)登記（new registrations），可通過現(xiàn)場(chǎng)“50選1”隨機(jī)選號(hào)（choose a plate number from among 50 available at vehicle management registration sites）。另一種是，互聯(lián)網(wǎng)選號(hào)，注冊(cè)登錄“交通安全綜合服務(wù)管理平臺(tái)”（www.122.gov.cn）或“交管12123APP”，按提示要求輸入相關(guān)信息，可進(jìn)行5次“10選1”隨機(jī)選號(hào)和20個(gè)自編選號(hào)（pick a number they prefer or from random numbers）。

對(duì)于已辦理過登記的新能源機(jī)動(dòng)車，按照自愿換領(lǐng)原則，由車主自主選擇是否換領(lǐng)（owners of already registered new energy vehicles can decide whether to replace their plates）。需要注意的是，此類車主只可在互聯(lián)網(wǎng)進(jìn)行選號(hào)。
