These are the five most popular songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart, for the week ending April 2, 2016.
The deck gets shuffled a bit this week, but that’s about it. Let’s open in fifth place, where Flo Rida loses a notch with “My House.” He’s preparing to hit the road.
Number 5: Flo Rida "My House"
Flo Rida backs off a slot to number five with “My House.” The Florida rapper has logged a lot of touring miles over the years, and on June 2 he hits Germany for eight dates. July 16 finds him at a festival in Quebec City, Canada.
Now, if you want to talk touring mileage, our fourth-place act has the competition beat.
Number 4: Twenty One Pilots "Stressed Out"
Twenty One Pilots retreats a notch to fourth place with the double-platinum hit “Stressed Out.” The Ohio duo has an ambitious touring schedule for 2016: They start in Canada on March 30, then hit New Zealand and Australia in April and May before returning to the U.S. They remain here through early August…then it’s on to the Reading and Leeds Festivals in the U.K.
Number 3: Lukas Graham "7 Years"
Lukas Graham moves two steps closer to a U.S. pop singles title, as “7 Years” takes over third place. On April 1, the group drops its second album internationally, although it originally appeared last June in Europe.
These guys are big news in their native Denmark,in fact, lead singer Lukas Graham says they had to turn down an appearance at the Queen of Denmark’s Ball to perform at the South By Southwest event in Texas. When you’re a rising star, you have to make tough choices.
Number 2: Justin Bieber "Love Yourself"
Justin Bieber remains your Hot 100 runner-up with his former champ “Love Yourself.” Justin is on tour, and last week he said he was cancelling meet-and-greet sessions with fans.
Posting on Instagram, Justin said the pressure of meeting people’s expectations was just too much…and he was left feeling “mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.”
Number 1: Rihanna Featuring Drake "Work"
Rihanna and Drake top the U.S. hit list for a fifth straight week with “Work.” Rihanna kicks off her European tour on June 17…but The Weeknd won’t be with her.
Concert organizer Live Nation issued a statement, blaming “unforeseen changes with upcoming projects.” A source tells Billboard that The Weeknd has chosen to work on new music. Big Sean will be his replacement.
That’s it for now – will “Work” make it six weeks at the top? Join us in seven days and we’ll find out together.
