I feel you've often used complex structures and long sentences for the sake of it.
My comments:
If you do something for the sake of it, you do it without actually intending to do it that way. In other words, you do it without giving it much thought.
Here in our example, this person likes to use complex structures and long sentences perhaps out of habit. He does not do so with a strong purpose. In other words, he does not use complex structures and long sentences because he strongly believes that they will make one sound profound and more learned.
They won’t, either.
