《青花瓷》的意味悠遠(yuǎn)深長。它曾被慧眼識(shí)珠的中學(xué)語文老師，編入語文考試。2008年的山東高考試題，甚至還引用了其中的幾句歌詞：“素胚勾勒出青花筆鋒濃轉(zhuǎn)淡”、“色白花青的錦鯉躍然于碗底”。
青花瓷的英文，有現(xiàn)成的表達(dá)是the blue and white porcelain。前幾日，和一位美國大學(xué)生談及我正翻譯的《青花瓷》，聽到the blue and white，他的話鋒一轉(zhuǎn)，提到哥倫比亞大學(xué)的同名學(xué)生雜志The Blue and White。名字不知作何翻譯?！扒嗷ā?？抑或“藍(lán)與白”？該雜志1890年創(chuàng)刊，封面藍(lán)白相間，風(fēng)格頗為淡雅。時(shí)事、政論、文化，包羅萬象。
哥倫比亞大學(xué)的新聞學(xué)院排名世界第一，其學(xué)生主持的百年雜志，水準(zhǔn)可見一斑。尤其是2007年伊朗總統(tǒng)內(nèi)賈德在哥倫比亞大學(xué)演講，該雜志報(bào)道詳盡，名噪一時(shí)。
如此想來，一些意象，在人們心目中，出于不同文化背景，竟如此風(fēng)馬牛不相及。

The sky is blue enough to herald the rain,
While for you I am on watch, however in vain.
月色被打撈起 暈開了結(jié)局
Scooped out of the water, the moon waned,

the story draws to an end.

The mystery of yours,

極細(xì)膩 猶如繡花針落地
is as delicate yet profound
as a needle falling into the ground.
簾外芭蕉惹驟雨門環(huán)惹銅綠
The banana tree outside brings a sudden downpour;
while the copper knocker invites rust to cover all.
而我路過那江南小鎮(zhèn)惹了你
South of the river
I passed through the small town,
mindless of turning your life around.
在潑墨山水畫里 你從墨色深處被隱去
Melting into the depth of a landscape painting,
you faded out into the dark background.
