從1985年開(kāi)始，全國(guó)各地大興“五好家庭”評(píng)選活動(dòng)。當(dāng)時(shí)的“五好家庭”的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)是：政治思想好、生產(chǎn)工作好；家庭和睦、尊敬老人好；教育子女、計(jì)劃生育好；移風(fēng)易俗、勤儉持家好；鄰里團(tuán)結(jié)、文明禮貌好。
