“和平統(tǒng)一” peaceful reunification/ reunify peacefully
胡錦濤同志在十七大報(bào)告中強(qiáng)調(diào)，解決臺(tái)灣問題、實(shí)現(xiàn)祖國(guó)完全統(tǒng)一，是全體中華兒女的共同心愿。我們將遵循“和平統(tǒng)一、一國(guó)兩制”的方針和現(xiàn)階段發(fā)展兩岸關(guān)系、推進(jìn)祖國(guó)和平統(tǒng)一，堅(jiān)持一個(gè)中國(guó)原則決不動(dòng)搖，反對(duì)“臺(tái)獨(dú)”分裂活動(dòng)決不妥協(xié)，牢牢把握兩岸關(guān)系和平發(fā)展的主題，維護(hù)國(guó)家主權(quán)和領(lǐng)土完整，維護(hù)中華民族根本利益。
以下是新華社的英文報(bào)道：
The mainland is ready to hold exchanges, dialogue, consultations and negotiations with any political party in Taiwan on any issue as long as it recognizes that both sides of the Straits belong to one and the same China, Hu said.
He also vowed to make every effort with the utmost sincerity to achieve peaceful reunification. "We will never allow anyone to separate Taiwan from the motherl and in any name, or by any means."
胡錦濤指出，臺(tái)灣任何政黨，只要承認(rèn)兩岸同屬一個(gè)中國(guó)，我們都愿意同他們交流對(duì)話、協(xié)商談判，什么問題都可以談。我們?cè)敢宰畲笳\(chéng)意、盡最大努力實(shí)現(xiàn)兩岸和平統(tǒng)一，絕不允許任何人以任何名義任何方式把臺(tái)灣從祖國(guó)分割出去。
“和平統(tǒng)一”即“peaceful reunification”或“reunify peacefully”；實(shí)現(xiàn)和平統(tǒng)一即“achieve peaceful reunification”。
