Famous Taiwan boy band F4 has to abandon their name. They are now called "JVKV" instead.
Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu and Vanness Wu became famous during one night in 2001, thanks to the release of a TV series named "Meteor Garden". And the name of their group "F4" just came from the roles they played in that series.
However, the name F4 was permitted by the Japanese publisher of "Hana Yori Dango" or "Boys over Flowers", and now Japan has required that the name no longer be used.
Angie Chai, the drama's producer, said they had no choice but to change the group's name. JVKV coming from the first letter of the four boys' English name, is going to take place of F4 in all the occasions in the future.
After "Meteor Garden," the four boys have been seeking to develop careers in both acting and music - together as well as separately.
In 2001, they signed a record deal as F4 with Sony, and since then, have released two albums.
Each member has also produced solo works already.
