The "Ladies' Safe Trips" taxi service was launched "at the request of Tehran women asking for a safe and relaxed service," according to the municipality transport official Jafar Tashakori Hashemi.
Female passengers can call the company from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm for a green-colored Kia cab driven by "professional and experienced women" and equipped with GPSnavigation systems.
"We hope the ladies employed at the taxi company display their capabilities in social activities by respecting Islamic values," he said.
Passengers in the Islamic republic travel in segregated buses, with women sitting in the back, but they often have to share taxis with three mensqueezed togetheron the back seat.
Women can choose between female-only and mixed wagons on subway trains.

此種綠色的起亞出租車內(nèi)置GPS導(dǎo)航系統(tǒng),司機(jī)都是“有專業(yè)駕駛經(jīng)驗(yàn)”的女性,女乘客從早上6點(diǎn)至晚上10點(diǎn)期間可以隨時(shí)打電話叫車。
哈什米說(shuō):“我們希望公司雇傭的女司機(jī)展示出她們的社會(huì)活動(dòng)能力,尊重伊斯蘭教規(guī)?!?/font>
伊朗的公交車上男女座位是分開(kāi)的,女乘客一般坐在車的后半部。但是女性在乘坐出租車時(shí),卻常常不得不和三個(gè)男人擠在后座上。
女性坐地鐵時(shí)則有兩種選擇,可以坐在女性專用車廂,也可以坐在普通車廂。
