“抽簽”定去留

因不愿解除與飛行員的勞務(wù)合同，東航公司日前再次招致網(wǎng)民質(zhì)疑。一年前的“東航10機(jī)長(zhǎng)辭職事件”有了終審判決 —— 東航公司應(yīng)允許10名機(jī)長(zhǎng)“走人”。只是，據(jù)悉，公司每年只有兩個(gè)流動(dòng)名額，最終決定去留還得靠抽簽。

The story began last November when 10 pilots at the Jiangsu branch of China Eastern Airlines submitted resignation letters in connection with a pay dispute.
“抽簽、抓鬮”，日常我們并不陌生，其相應(yīng)英文表達(dá)為“draw lots”、“cast lots”，或者“to choose by lot”。此外，“l(fā)ot”也可以指“抽簽的結(jié)果”，如：The lot fell on me to pay the bill.（我抽到簽，所以由我來(lái)買(mǎi)單。）
此外，“l(fā)ot”在俚語(yǔ)中可指“運(yùn)氣、命運(yùn)”。日常會(huì)話中“命定…去做某事”可借用句型“It fell to sb.'s lot”，如：So it fell to my lot to tell him the bad news about his wife.（這么說(shuō)來(lái)，關(guān)于他妻子的不幸消息非我去通報(bào)不可了。）
