I have a question about some confusing words. They are celebration, ceremony and anniversary. Can you tell me what are the different situations to use each of them appropriately? Thank you.

Celebration, ceremony and anniversary are three nouns with similar meanings.
In today’s programme, Yang Li and William Kremer give specific examples about how to each word appropriately.
Sometimes you can use them together to describe an event. Look at the following example:
"I work for the BBC’s international charity and last week we had a celebration for the tenth anniversary of the charity. So we had a little ceremony to celebrate it together."
In this programme you can hear a lot more examples to get a thorough understanding of how to use these three commonly used words.
If you have a question about English, email our team at questions.chinaelt@bbc.co.uk. We may answer it in this programme.
