Greece: Bonfire party

Some villages in Greece have the custom of holding a bonfire party on Christmas Eve. It is said that this way the sheepherds can keep the newly-born Jesus warm. Besides, young boys and girls will put special tree branches into the fire to see if their branches burn down quickly, which symbolizes good luck or a good marriage in the coming year.

希臘的一些村莊會在平安夜舉行篝火晚會。傳說牧羊人就是燃起篝火讓剛出生的耶穌取暖。在篝火晚會上，少男少女們會把特別的樹枝丟進(jìn)火里，如果樹枝很快燒盡，代表來年好運(yùn)或婚事降至。
