美國(guó)史上最嚴(yán)重的校園槍擊案引起了全世界的震驚，連一向不對(duì)公眾新聞發(fā)言表態(tài)的英國(guó)伊麗莎白女王二世也發(fā)表了公開講話。讓我們來第一時(shí)間看看美國(guó)的幾個(gè)主要官方媒體的報(bào)道，請(qǐng)注意幾個(gè)重要描述。

Authorities say they initially believed the dorm shooting was an "isolated
incident" and were still investigating it when the slaughter occurred at Norris
Hall.
注：slaughter——屠殺
美國(guó)的媒體普遍把這次校園槍擊事件形容為“屠殺”。當(dāng)然，句中的slaughter特指“發(fā)生在諾里斯教學(xué)大樓里的亂槍掃射”（案發(fā)者在宿舍樓前擊斃兩人后，又趕往工程系教學(xué)樓行兇）。此外，“massacre”也常用來形容“屠殺”。
