 Before they were soldiers, they were family.
Before they were legends, they were heroes. Before there was a nation, there was
a fight for freedom.
這是 The Patriot 這部電影的tagline。The
Patriot是一個美國式的“逼上梁山”的故事，梅爾·吉布森在影片中不太情愿地成為了一位為自由而戰(zhàn)斗的父親。節(jié)選的這個片斷發(fā)生在南卡萊羅納參戰(zhàn)前夕，人們召集會議討論要不要參戰(zhàn)。參加會議的代表們各懷心思，獨立派和?；逝纱綐屔鄤?，即使是獨立派內(nèi)部也存在分歧，一些人希望和國王談判來取得獨立，另一些人則認(rèn)為只有通過戰(zhàn)爭才能獲得獨立。從中我們可以窺見美國民主的淵源。
