Craig Mello from the United States holds the joint 2006 Nobel Prize for Medicine at the Concert Hall in Stockholm December 10, 2006. The Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly to Craig Mello from the United States and his compatriot Andrew Fire for their discovery of RNA interference - gene silencing by double-stranded RNA.
