Trigger warning is a warning against certain language or image that may trigger some reaction in the viewer, usually something unpleasant.
Slap in the face
A "slap in the face" means a sharp and rude, disrespectful rebuke.
Digging his heels in?
If someone "digs in", they are holding on to their position fast, refusing to budge.
Fat of the land?
They live a rich and comfortable life on a surplus of money and resources, and therefore don't have to work very hard.
China’s sandwich generation?
Feel sandwiched, they are, in terms of both finance and time, and burdens coming from above (parents) and under(children and grandchildren).

If something hit a nerve in us, it stirs up our emotions immediately.

When we want to point out that someone trying to ignore problems rather than confronting them straight up and head on, we say he or she is burying their head in the sand.
