Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney was his team’s star player on Saturday, scoring all four goals in their 4-0 victory over Hull.
The result saw Manchester United leapfrog 跳躍了 Arsenal and Chelsea to go top of the Premier League.
Rooney has now set his sights 看準(zhǔn)了on beating his current record of 23 goals scored in a single season 賽季.
So far this season the 24-year-old striker has bagged 奪得 19 goals and has stated that he would be "disappointed" not to set a new personal record.
"I've still got hopefully another 20 games to play, I won't be happy if I don't get more than 23," said Rooney.
Rooney’s performance was warmly appreciated 熱情地贊許 by his team manager Sir Alex Ferguson who described Rooney’s finishes 進(jìn)球技巧 as "terrific".
Stand up if you hate Glazer.
Manchester United fans
"He [Rooney] has always been a main player for us. From the moment he came to the club he never gets left out," said Sir Alex.
The four-goal rampage 狂勝 should have left United’s fans singing triumphant songs of victory.
But instead many of the United faithful 忠實(shí)的球迷 spent the match chanting slogans 呼誦口號(hào) against the American family that bought the team in 2005.
The Glazer family are deeply unpopular with many fans because of the enormous amount of debt 債務(wù) they have saddled 重負(fù)壓身 the club with.
When the Glazers bought the club they borrowed hundreds of millions of dollars to do so, leaving a club that was previously debt free 無(wú)債一身輕 with annual interest payments 年度利息付款額 that are reported to be more than £60m (66m yuan) a year.
I could see our opponents rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of watching us fall out.
Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United manager
The club’s finances have been under more scrutiny than ever following last week’s £500m (5,56bn yuan) bond issue 償債債券 designed to alleviate 減輕 the club’s debts of hundreds of millions of pounds with international banks.
The fact that fees 費(fèi)用 paid to investment bankers 投資銀行家們 and lawyers 律師們 for the bond issue have already cost the club £54m (594m yuan), coupled with the fact that the Glazer family themselves have been borrowing millions of pounds from the club’s parent company 母公司 have led fans to organise themselves in protest against the Glazer family.
During the Hull game chants off "Love United, hate Glazer" and "stand up if you hate Glazer" echoed around the stadium.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson has warned that disunity 不團(tuán)結(jié) amongst the fans could cause the team to perform badly.
"I could see our opponents rubbing their hands with glee 看笑聲/幸災(zāi)樂(lè)禍 at the thought of watching us fall out 分崩離析/不合 among ourselves if we don’t think carefully about what we are doing,"he wrote in a message to the fans.
