“Mama you sweet”選自美國(guó)鄉(xiāng)村民謠歌手Lucinda Williams的最新專輯“West”（2007年發(fā)行）。整張專輯彌漫著化不開(kāi)的憂傷，而專輯中多首曲子的創(chuàng)作靈感來(lái)源于Lucinda媽媽的逝世。“Mama you sweet”就是這么一首悼念亡母的布魯斯民謠。
就歌詞而言，“Mama you sweet”頗有意象派詩(shī)歌的味道。歌手通過(guò)海洋的洶涌（heavy ocean）、雙唇的干裂（cracks on my lips）、心頭的傷口（scars in my heart）等具體意象刻畫(huà)了失去母親的無(wú)限傷悲，這傷悲如此洶涌可以讓堅(jiān)墻轟然倒塌（pain hits a wall），這傷悲如此躁動(dòng)以至找不到疏通的缺口（not know which way to go）……
從音樂(lè)的角度來(lái)賞析，歌曲簡(jiǎn)單明快的旋律、質(zhì)樸硬朗的吉他，歌手粗糙的嗓音、不加掩飾的抒情，均與歌詞的意境達(dá)到了完美的統(tǒng)一。
