熟能生巧

Practice Makes Perfect

北宋時(shí)期，有個(gè)技藝高超的射手。一天, 他練習(xí)射箭，引來(lái)了一大群人觀看。大家都稱贊他的技藝,他也很得意。但是，人群中有個(gè)年長(zhǎng)的賣(mài)油翁只是淡淡地點(diǎn)點(diǎn)頭,這使射手很不高興。他問(wèn)那賣(mài)油翁:“你認(rèn)為我的技術(shù)如何?”賣(mài)油翁回答:“沒(méi)什么特別的,你只不過(guò)是反復(fù)練習(xí)，所以手法熟練罷了?！鄙涫致?tīng)后很不服氣。于是，賣(mài)油翁把一個(gè)葫蘆放在地上，在葫蘆口上放了一枚銅錢(qián)，然后從大油壺里舀起一勺油，從高處往葫蘆里倒。只見(jiàn)油就像線一樣從銅錢(qián)中間的小孔里滴下去，一滴都沒(méi)有漏出來(lái)。圍觀者都驚呆了。賣(mài)油翁說(shuō):“其實(shí)這只不過(guò)是天天練的結(jié)果?！焙髞?lái)，人們用這個(gè)成語(yǔ)來(lái)表示一件事熟練了就能做好。

Běi sòng shí qī, yǒu ge jì yì gāo chāo de shè shǒu. Yī tiān, tā liàn xí shè jiàn, yǐn lái le yī dà qún rén guān kàn. Dà jiā dōu chēng zàn tā de jì yì, tā yě hěn dé yì. Dàn shì, rén qún zhōng yǒu ge nián zhǎng de mài yóu wēng zhǐ shì dàn dàn de diǎn diǎn tóu, zhèshǐ shè shǒu hěn bù gāo xìng. Tā wèn nà mài yóu wēng: “Nǐ rèn wéi wǒ de jì shù rú hé?”Mài yóu wēng huí dá: “Méi shén me tè bié de, nǐ zhǐ bù guò shì fǎn fù liàn xí, suǒ yǐ shǒu fǎ shú liàn bà le.”Shè shǒu tīng hòu hěn bù fú qì. Yú shì, mài yóu wēng bǎ yī ge hú lu fàng zài dì shàng, zài hú lu kǒu shàng fàng le yī méi tóng qián, rán hòu cóng dà yóu hú lǐ yǎo qǐ yì sháo yóu, cóng gāo chù wàng hú lu lǐ dào. Zhǐ jiàn yóu jiù xiàng xiàn yī yàng cóng tóng qián zhōng jiān de xiǎo kǒng lǐ dī xià qù, yī dī dōu méi yǒu lòu chū lai. Wéi guān zhě dōu jīng dāi le. Mài yóu wēng shuō: “Qí shí zhè zhǐ bù guò shì tiān tiān liàn de jié guǒ.”Hòu lái, rén men yòng zhè ge chéng yǔ lái biǎo shì yī jiàn shì shú liàn le jiù néng zuò hǎo.

There lived during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) an accomplished archer. As he was doing his daily practice one day, a big crowd gathered around him, and cheered each time he hit his target. This made him feel pleased with himself, but among the crowd stood an old oil peddler who merely nodded. His pride hurt, the archer asked the old oil peddler, "What do you think of my archery?" The old man answered, "Nothing special. You've become skilled through regular practice, that's all." The archer was unconvinced. Thereupon, the oil peddler put a gourd bottle on the ground and covered its mouth with a copper cash coin. He then scooped a ladle of oil from his jar, held it high in the air and poured it into the gourd. The crowd watched in amazement as the thread of oil fell from the ladle through the hole at the center of the coin into the gourd. The old man said, "This is nothing special. It's something I can do because I've practiced every day." Later, people used this idiom to mean practice makes perfect.
