“旗開得勝”

媽媽穿旗袍寓意“旗開得勝（succeed at the first try）”，爸爸穿馬褂寓意“馬到成功（gain an immediate victory）”，都是為了給參加考試的孩子討個好彩頭。

“一舉奪魁”

向日葵也成為了高考幸運花，因為“葵（sunflower）”與“魁（head）”同音。不少考生家長在考場外手舉向日葵等候，希望自己的孩子“一舉奪魁（best the test in one fell swoop）”。
