Scientists have said global warming is aggravating adverse weather.
Neighboring countries registered record temperatures during a heat wave in Asia in April.
Nguyen Thi Lan, a farmer, said temperatures in the central city of Danang had forced workers to start their days earlier than ever.
“We have had to finish before 10 am to avoid the heat,” she said. "This is a worrying record in the context of climate change and global warming,” Nguyen Ngoc Huy, a climate change expert, said. “I believe this record will be repeated many times. It confirms that extreme climate models are being proven to be true.”
Danang officials have asked Vietnam’s industry and electricity ministries to “cooperate to effectively deal with the heat, possible drought and lack of water,” according to state media.

Further west, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, recorded its highest temperature since the 1960s.
Indian weather authorities said parts of the country were experiencing temperatures roughly three to four degrees above normal.
A recent report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said “every increment of global warming will intensify multiple and concurrent hazards”.
> Chengdu man conquers five mountains in five days
A 30-year-old man from Chengdu, who goes by the pseudonym "Nan Duoduo", has recently gained attention for climbing China's five great mountains in just five days over the May Day holiday.
As early as the beginning of April, Nan began planning a five-day mountain climbing trip.
"As this trip is challenging in all aspects, it must be planned," Nan said. Sometimes, he would go on an impromptu trip, but this five-day journey to climb the five mountains was only confirmed after evaluating his own abilities.
He planned the itinerary "down to every single minute" to make sure he could catch every train and the plan would go smoothly, making the trip look like an "intense training schedule" for a special forces soldier.
The intensity was not a problem, as Nan has the habit of hiking and running marathons; the most difficult part was getting tickets in time. "The travel rush was so fierce that I only got the ticket from Changsha to Zhengzhou the day of departure."
The trip cost Nan 4,000 yuan and would have been impossible without the country's extensive transportation network.
"It's not only a super-cool travel log, but an advertisement for China's infrastructure," one netizen said on Weibo.
