近日，日本漢字能力檢定協(xié)會（the Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation）在京都市的清水寺公布了最能反映2021年世態(tài)民情的年度漢字。

The Japanese kanji for kin, meaning gold, was voted character of the year on Monday in honor of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
日本漢字“金”當(dāng)選年度漢字，以紀(jì)念因新冠疫情延期一年舉辦的東京奧運會。

評選組織方表示：

The Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics became bright news, a ray of light for a society that had been in the dark, suffering from the coronavirus pandemic for a long time.
東京奧運會和殘奧會成為振奮人心的新聞，為長期受新冠疫情困擾、深處黑暗當(dāng)中的社會帶來一絲光亮。

今年在223773張投票中，有10422票選擇了“金”字。

This is the fourth time for the character to come out on top in the voting, following its selection in 2000, 2012, and 2016—all Olympic years.
這是“金”字第四次當(dāng)選年度漢字，此前曾在2000年、2012年和2016年當(dāng)選，而這些年份都是奧運會的舉辦年份。

Voting for the kanji takes place via postcard, in person at bookstores and libraries, and on the internet. The winning kin barely edged out the second-place finisher this year, taking 10,422 votes to the 10,304 received by rin, meaning “ring”—another Olympic-inspired choice that was the winner in 2013, the year when Tokyo was tapped to host the 2020 games.
年度漢字的評選可以通過明信片、親自前往書店或圖書館，以及在線等方式投票?！敖稹弊忠?0422票的微弱優(yōu)勢擊敗同樣與奧運會有關(guān)的“輪”字，成功當(dāng)選?！拜啞弊肢@得的票數(shù)為10304票。2013年東京獲得奧運會主辦權(quán)的那一年，“輪”字曾經(jīng)當(dāng)選為年度漢字。

今年的評選中，票數(shù)排在前十位的漢字分別是：

日本的年度漢字自1995年開始評選以來，今年已經(jīng)是第27次進(jìn)行。

The top kanji character last year was mitsu, which means dense, crowded and close, describing the three situations people in Japan were urged to avoid in order to prevent infection.
去年的年度漢字是“密”，即“密接、密集”的“密”，指日本民眾為防止感染盡量避免“密閉場所、密集人群、密切接觸”的情形。
