A health official has emphasized the importance of committing to the current strategy in China to clear COVID-19 infections in a timely manner as highly contagious variants of the virus continue to rage around the world. Since mid-October, the latest COVID-19 resurgence in China has spread to more than 20 provincial-level regions. Most regions managed to contain the outbreak within an incubation period of about 14 days, said Ma Xiaowei, head of the National Health Commission, in a recent interview with Xinhua.
國家衛(wèi)生健康委主任馬曉偉近日接受新華社記者專訪時表示，目前全球正在同傳播力更強的變異毒株較量，我國要堅持"動態(tài)清零"策略不動搖。馬曉偉表示，10月中旬以來，國內疫情一度波及20余個省份。各地發(fā)現(xiàn)疫情后，基本都在1個潛伏期(14天)左右時間控制住了疫情。

"We have been thinking, especially during the process of coping with the spread of the Delta variant, how to control the epidemic with more effective measures, lower costs and at faster speeds, to minimize its impact on economic and social development and people's lives," Ma said.
"我們一直在思考，尤其是應對德爾塔毒株傳播的過程中，如何以更高水平、更小成本、更短時間控制住疫情，使疫情對經濟社會發(fā)展、人民生產生活影響越來越小。"

Aiming to contain an outbreak within the incubation period, related agencies have been making full use of the "golden period," the first 24 hours of a discovered case, to find those who were in close contact, isolate potentially infected individuals before the virus spreads, or before the infected person can transmit the virus, Ma said.
因此，發(fā)生疫情后，要充分利用黃金24小時處置時間，在疫情沒有擴散之前，或者感染者還不具備傳播能力之前，把密接者、次密接者找到，把可能的感染者提前管控住，力爭用1個潛伏期左右時間控制住疫情傳播。

He hailed the strategy as an essential procedure for China's fight against COVID-19.
馬曉偉表示，"動態(tài)清零"策略是中國控制疫情的"法寶"。

Greece is to make Covid vaccinations mandatory for people aged 60 and over.

On the site, lookups for "vaccine" shot up 601% over 2020, especially toward the latter part of the year, when the first US shot was administered in December.
