China's digital economy grew to 39.2 trillion yuan in 2020, accounting for 38.6% of the country's total GDP and up 9.7% year on year, according to a report. The report on development of the internet in China was released by the Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies at the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit, which opened Sunday in East China's Zhejiang province.

In 2020, the volume of e-commerce transactions recorded in China reached 37.21 trillion yuan, up 4.5% from 2019, while the operating income of the e-commerce service sector reached 5.45 trillion yuan, an increase of 21.9% year on year, according to the report.
2020年，中國電子商務(wù)交易額達(dá)到37.21萬億元，同比增長4.5%；電子商務(wù)服務(wù)業(yè)營業(yè)收入規(guī)模達(dá)到5.45萬億元，同比增長21.9%。

The digital economy has become a key option for countries around the world seeking to hedge against the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and to speed up economic and social transformation, said a report on global internet development also released on Sunday, adding that new information infrastructure has gradually become a new driving force for global economic growth.
《世界互聯(lián)網(wǎng)發(fā)展報告2021》指出，數(shù)字經(jīng)濟(jì)成為世界各國應(yīng)對新冠肺炎疫情沖擊、加快經(jīng)濟(jì)社會轉(zhuǎn)型的重要選擇。新型信息基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施逐步成為全球經(jīng)濟(jì)增長的新動能。

The Global Development Initiative has charted the course for advancing global development and international development cooperation, said Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, calling for taking the opportunity of implementing the initiative to further deepen global cooperation. He made the remarks in a speech at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Sustainable Development Forum in Beijing on Sunday via video link.

As the largest developing country, China has always helped other developing countries and actively promoted South-South Cooperation, providing development assistance to more than 160 developing countries, according to Wang.
王毅表示，作為最大的發(fā)展中國家，中國始終同其他發(fā)展中國家守望相助，積極推進(jìn)南南合作，為160多個發(fā)展中國家提供了發(fā)展援助。

Talking about China's contributions to the global fight against COVID-19, Wang said that China has provided more than 1.25 billion doses of vaccines to the world, and will provide 2 billion throughout this year. In addition to donating $100 million to COVAX, China will donate 100 million additional doses of vaccines to other developing countries.
談到中國為全球抗擊新冠肺炎疫情作出的貢獻(xiàn)時，王毅說，中國已向世界提供超過12.5億劑疫苗，全年將對外提供20億劑疫苗，在向"新冠疫苗實(shí)施計劃"捐贈1億美元基礎(chǔ)上，年內(nèi)將再向發(fā)展中國家無償捐贈1億劑疫苗。

全年社零總額有望達(dá)44萬億元

China's retail sales of consumer goods are expected to hit 44 trillion yuan in 2021, an official said Sunday. The estimated figure will represent an increase of about 12.5% from last year and 8% from 2019, said Wang Bin, an official from the Ministry of Commerce, at a press conference.
商務(wù)部消費(fèi)促進(jìn)司副司長王斌9月26日在記者會上表示，預(yù)計全年社會消費(fèi)品零售總額有望達(dá)到44萬億元，比2020年增長12.5%左右，比2019年增長8%左右。

Considering the growth month by month in the second half of 2020, the year-on-year growth trend of consumption will be "low-after-high" throughout this year, Wang said, adding that the country's consumption will continue its steady recovery in the fourth quarter.
王斌分析，去年下半年消費(fèi)逐月回升，所以今年下半年以來同比增速有所回落，總體會呈現(xiàn)前高后低格局，但整個四季度消費(fèi)仍將延續(xù)平穩(wěn)恢復(fù)態(tài)勢。

The latest data shows that China's retail sales of consumer goods went up 2.5% year on year, to around 3.44 trillion yuan in August, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
國家統(tǒng)計局最新數(shù)據(jù)顯示，8月份社會消費(fèi)品零售總額約3.44萬億元，同比增長2.5%。

>EU to force USB-C chargers for all phones
歐盟將強(qiáng)制統(tǒng)一手機(jī)充電接口

Manufacturers will be forced to create a universal charging solution for phones and small electronic devices, under a new rule proposed by the European Commission (EC).
根據(jù)歐盟委員會(EC)提出的新規(guī)，制造商將被迫為手機(jī)和小型電子設(shè)備提供通用充電解決方案。

The aim is to reduce waste by encouraging consumers to re-use existing chargers when buying a new device.

All smartphones sold in the EU must have USB-C chargers, the proposal said.
