China's postal and courier companies handled more packages during this year's mid-year shopping spree compared with the same period in 2020 and 2019, official data showed.

More than 6.59 billion packages were handled from June 1 to June 20, during the so-called "618" online shopping festival, up 24.24 percent from a year earlier, the State Post Bureau said. The figure represented an 84.16 percent increase compared with the same period in 2019.

The highest daily handling volume exceeded 400 million during the period, up 25.86 percent compared with normal daily volume, the data showed.

>Four vaccines included in export list
4款新冠疫苗列入可出口清單

China has included four COVID-19 vaccines that have been granted conditional market approval domestically in a list of vaccine products available for export. The four vaccines are manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd, Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd, CanSino Biologics Inc. and the Wuhan Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd, according to an announcement posted on the official website of the Ministry of Commerce.
商務(wù)部日前在網(wǎng)站發(fā)布公告稱，將國藥中生北京公司、北京科興中維公司、康希諾公司、國藥中生武漢生物制品研究所有限責(zé)任公司的4款疫苗列入可供對(duì)外出口的新冠疫苗產(chǎn)品清單。4款疫苗均已在國內(nèi)獲批附條件上市。

Among the vaccines, two manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd and Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd have already been listed by the World Health Organization for emergency use.
其中，國藥中生北京公司、北京科興中維公司的2款疫苗已列入世衛(wèi)組織緊急使用清單。

They have been administered on a large scale in China and have been approved for use in about 100 countries, said Li Xingqian, a ministry official.
商務(wù)部外貿(mào)司司長李興乾說，上述疫苗產(chǎn)品已在中國國內(nèi)大規(guī)模接種，并在全球上百個(gè)國家獲批使用。

The ministry will work with relevant parties to assist foreign countries in purchasing vaccines from China, take concrete action to help make the vaccines a global public good, and promote the building of a global community of health for all, he said.
李興乾表示，商務(wù)部將會(huì)同相關(guān)部門為各國從中國采購疫苗提供支持和協(xié)助，以實(shí)際行動(dòng)助力疫苗成為全球公共產(chǎn)品、推動(dòng)構(gòu)建人類衛(wèi)生健康共同體。

駐美大使崔天凱即將離任

Cui Tiankai, the longest-serving Chinese ambassador to the United States, will leave his post for Beijing soon.
中國駐美國大使崔天凱近日將離任回國，他是歷屆任期最長的駐美大使。

Since beginning to serve "as China's ambassador to the United States in April 2013, I have been working in the US for more than eight years", Cui, 68, said in a farewell letter on Monday night. "I will leave for China soon. This was the longest term in my diplomatic career abroad, which allowed me to experience many historic events, meet many friends, and left me with memories for life," he said in the letter addressed to the Chinese community in the US.

Cui said the China-US relationship is at a "critical crossroads", and that as US policy toward China undergoes a new round of restructuring, it faces a choice between dialogue and cooperation, or confrontation and conflict.
崔天凱還說，當(dāng)前中美關(guān)系正處在"關(guān)鍵十字路口"，美國對(duì)華政策正經(jīng)歷新一輪重構(gòu)，面臨在對(duì)話合作和對(duì)抗沖突之間作出選擇。

Cui said he hoped overseas Chinese would "continue to be a firm promoter and active contributor to the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations".
崔天凱表示，希望在美僑胞"繼續(xù)做中美關(guān)系健康穩(wěn)定發(fā)展的堅(jiān)定促進(jìn)者和積極貢獻(xiàn)者"。

>Nursing home deaths in US up 32%

Deaths among Medicare patients in nursing homes in the US soared by 32 percent last year, a government watchdog reported Tuesday in the most comprehensive look yet at the ravages of COVID-19 among its most vulnerable victims.

The report from the inspector general of the Department of Health and Human Services found that about 4 in 10 Medicare recipients in nursing homes had or likely had COVID-19 in 2020, and that deaths overall jumped by 169,291 from the previous year, before the coronavirus appeared.
