A total of 10.78 million Chinese students sit the national college entrance examination starting Monday.

The Ministry of Education called for local authorities to offer convenience to exam takers, particularly those with disabilities, and make preparations for potential emergencies, including extreme weather and natural disasters.
教育部要求各地加強對考生，尤其是殘障考生的服務保障，充分做好考試期間可能出現的極端天氣、自然災害等突發(fā)情況的應對準備工作。

Students were reminded to abide by the exam rules and follow COVID-19 containment regulations while sitting the test.
教育部還要求考生嚴格遵守考試紀律和考場防疫規(guī)定。

The exam, also known as the gaokao, is deemed the most important event for Chinese students and hailed as a fair system to select talent.
對于廣大學子來說，高考是人生中最重要的一次大考，是我國一種公平的人才選拔制度。

>Yellow River water quality improved
黃河流域水質逐年好轉

The water quality of the Yellow River, China's second-longest river, has seen improvement in the past five years, the environmental authority said. The river's water quality improved from mild pollution to good during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), according to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
生態(tài)環(huán)境部表示，"十三五"期間，黃河流域水質總體呈逐年好轉趨勢，水質狀況從輕度污染改善為良好。黃河是我國第二長河。

About 84.7% of the surface water in the river was graded Class I to III (good quality) in 2020, up 25.6 percentage points from 2016.

For the tributaries, 80.2% of the surface water was graded as good quality in 2020, up 31.2 percentage points from 2016.

Surface water quality in China is divided into five classes, with Class I being the best.
我國將地表水劃分為五類，Ⅰ類水水質最好。

In 2020, China reported improved air and water quality as well as reduced carbon dioxide emissions amid the country's efforts to boost green development, an official report showed in March.
今年3月發(fā)布的一份官方報告顯示，2020年，由于國家大力促進綠色發(fā)展，我國空氣和水質量得到改善，二氧化碳排放量減少。

>All 8 miners rescued
雞西被困礦工全部升井

All eight miners trapped in a coal mine after a coal and gas outburst in Jixi city of northeast China's Heilongjiang province have been lifted to the ground, rescuers said Sunday.
救援人員6月6日表示，當日20時許，黑龍江雞西煤礦煤與瓦斯突出事故中被困的8名礦工全部平安升井。

Around 8 pm, all eight miners were lifted to the ground and sent to a hospital for physical examination.
礦工升井后被送往醫(yī)院進行身體檢查。

The accident took place around 12:07 pm Saturday in the coal mine operated by the Jixi branch of the Longmay Mining Holding Group Co Ltd, when the eight miners were working underground.
6月5日12時07分，黑龍江龍煤礦業(yè)集團雞西礦業(yè)公司煤礦立井發(fā)生煤與瓦斯突出事故，事故發(fā)生時有8人在工作面作業(yè)。

Two teams comprising 30 members were sent to the site immediately to carry out rescue work.

Rescuers installed a new exhaust duct in the roadway where the accident occurred to reduce gas concentration. They also used the original dynamic pressure water pipe to clean and reduce coal dust.

>G7 agrees on global minimum tax rate

The Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations have agreed to support new rules that will achieve a global minimum tax rate of at least 15%, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Saturday.
美國財政部長珍妮特?耶倫6月5日表示，七國集團(G7)已達成協(xié)議，支持將全球最低企業(yè)稅率設定為至少15%。

Calling it a "significant, unprecedented" commitment, Yellen said in a statement that the global minimum tax would end the race-to-the-bottom in corporate taxation, and ensure fairness for the middle class and working people in the US and around the world.
耶倫在一份聲明中說，全球最低企業(yè)稅率這一"重大且史無前例的"承諾將終止企業(yè)稅的逐底競爭，確保美國和世界各地的中產階級和勞動人民得以公平對待。

"G7 finance ministers today, after years of discussions, have reached a historic agreement to reform the global tax system, to make it fit for the global digital age," UK Finance Minister Rishi Sunak announced in a video statement on Saturday.

The British Treasury, meanwhile, said in a statement that the principle of at least 15% global minimum corporation tax creates a more level playing field for British firms and cracks down on tax avoidance.

German finance minister Olaf Scholz said the deal was "bad news for tax havens around the world".
