5月21日夜間到5月22日凌晨，云南大理州漾濞縣和青海果洛州瑪多縣先后發(fā)生地震，引發(fā)全國(guó)關(guān)注。

周末發(fā)生在云南和青海省的地震已經(jīng)導(dǎo)致3人遇難，多人受傷。3名遇難人員均在云南。

Four earthquakes over 5.0-magnitude struck the Yangbi Yi autonomous county in Dali Bai autonomous prefecture of Yunnan from 9 pm to 11 pm on Friday. The tremors were felt in all 12 counties and cities of the prefecture, with Yangbi being the worst hit. By 3 pm Saturday, seven people were severely injured and 25 others had minor injuries.
5月21日晚9點(diǎn)至11點(diǎn)，云南大理白族自治州漾濞彝族自治縣發(fā)生5.0級(jí)以上地震4次，該州12個(gè)縣市均有震感，漾濞縣受損最嚴(yán)重。截至5月22日下午3點(diǎn)，地震已造成7人重傷，25人輕傷。

A few hours later, at 2:04 am Saturday, a 7.4-magnitude quake jolted Madoi county in the Golog Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Qinghai, in the northwest of the country.The Ministry of Emergency Management said 11 people had minor injuries.The county is located over 4,000 meters above sea level.

【知識(shí)點(diǎn)】

地震的強(qiáng)度（magnitude）一般按照里氏震級(jí)（Richter Scale）劃分，它是將震級(jí)范圍從1到10的一種對(duì)數(shù)標(biāo)度，用以表現(xiàn)地震放出的能量總數(shù)，是根據(jù)美國(guó)地震學(xué)家Charles Francis Richter 命名的。在英文報(bào)道中，“X級(jí)地震”常用X on the Richter Scale、magnitude-X earthquake或者 a X magnitude earthquake/quake表示，比如：The tremor was placed at 5.6 on the Richter scale.（地震的震級(jí)被測(cè)定為里氏5.6級(jí)。）A powerful magnitude-7.6 earthquake struck off the Solomon Islands on Monday.（周一，所羅門群島發(fā)生了里氏7.6級(jí)地震。）

China has allocated 10 million yuan from its central budget for disaster relief to the provinces of Yunnan and Qinghai. The emergency funds, allocated by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management, will be used to aid disaster relief and ensure people's livelihoods in the affected areas.

【詞匯講解】

中國(guó)地震臺(tái)網(wǎng)中心等部門的專家經(jīng)過(guò)會(huì)商指出，兩次地震地處我國(guó)不同斷裂帶，不做關(guān)聯(lián)性分析。

There was no causal relationship between the Yunnan and Qinghai quakes, but they shared the same root cause, Sun Shihong, a researcher at the China Earthquake Networks Center, said. "Both earthquakes were affected by the squeezing of the Indian Ocean plate against the Eurasian plate," Sun said.
中國(guó)地震臺(tái)網(wǎng)中心研究員孫士鋐表示，云南和青海地震沒(méi)有關(guān)聯(lián)。不過(guò)，這兩處地震產(chǎn)生的原因相同，都是由于印度板塊擠壓歐亞板塊導(dǎo)致的。
