>Penalty imposed on Alibaba Group
China's State Administration for Market Regulation imposed an administrative penalty on Alibaba Group on Saturday for monopoly conduct of implementing an "exclusive dealing agreement" based on results of an investigation.
The administration ordered Alibaba Group to stop illegal activities and pay a fine of 18.23 billion yuan ($2.78 billion), which is equal to 4 percent of its sales in China in 2019.
According to the investigation, Alibaba's conduct of implementing an "exclusive dealing agreement" hinders competition in China's services market involving online retail platforms, impedes the free flow of goods, services and resources, and infringes on the legitimate rights and interests of merchants on the platform, as well as the interests of consumers.
In accordance with the principle of combining punishment with education, the administration also issued administrative guidance to the group, requiring it to conduct comprehensive rectification and submit self-inspection reports to the administration for three consecutive years.
>Wastewater to be dumped into ocean
The Japanese government may announce as early as Tuesday plans to dispose of radioactive wastewater from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean, sources with knowledge of the matter said Friday.
The sources said the government will convene a meeting of relevant ministers and announce the decision as early as next Tuesday.
While treated, the radiation-tainted water, stored in tanks at the plant in Japan's northeast, is expected to reach capacity next year.
The plant had its key cooling functions knocked out after being battered by a massive earthquake-triggered tsunami a decade ago, resulting in the world's worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl in 1986.
The tainted water contains radioactive tritium as a result of being used to cool down melted nuclear fuel at the plant in Fukushima Prefecture.
>Prince Philip's funeral
The funeral service for Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of the UK's Queen Elizabeth II, will be held on April 17, Buckingham Palace said on Saturday.
The service for Philip, who died aged 99 on Friday, will be held at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, preceded by a national moment of one minute's silence.
There will be no public access or public procession beforehand.
The number of mourners will be limited to 30, with Buckingham Palace stressing that the service will be held in line with COVID-19 restrictions, meaning members of the royal family, including the queen would be expected to wear a mask.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson will not attend the funeral to make space for as many family members as possible under pandemic rules, his Downing Street office said in a statement.
Queen Elizabeth has approved eight days of national mourning until the funeral and the royal family will observe two weeks of mourning.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed that Harry, who has moved to Los Angeles after giving up royal duties, was planning to attend the funeral, but his pregnant wife, Meghan, had been advised not to travel by her physician.
