About 3.77 million Chinese have signed up for the 2021 national exam for postgraduate enrollment, scheduled from Dec 26 to 28, the Ministry of Education said Wednesday.
教育部12月23日表示，2021年全國碩士研究生招生考試將于12月26日至28日舉行，全國報(bào)考人數(shù)為377萬。

Test-takers have been advised to be fully aware of requirements for COVID-19 containment, including body temperature monitoring and nucleic acid testing results at exam centers.
教育部建議考生詳細(xì)了解考點(diǎn)相關(guān)防疫要求，如體溫監(jiān)測、核酸證明等。

The ministry has asked the public to report cheating attempts and tip off authorities about wrongdoing.
教育部還公布了考場舞弊等違法違規(guī)行為的舉報(bào)渠道。

A total of 3.41 million applicants took the entrance exam for postgraduate studies last year.

>Tariffs for imports to be lowered
部分商品進(jìn)口關(guān)稅調(diào)整

The new interim tariff rates on imports, which will be lower than Most Favored Nation tariff rates, will apply to 883 kinds of goods as of Jan 1, including foods, medicines and information technology products, the Office of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council, which is based in the Ministry of Finance, announced on Wednesday.
根據(jù)財(cái)政部網(wǎng)站發(fā)布的通知，國務(wù)院關(guān)稅稅則委員會12月23日宣布，自2021年1月1日起，我國將對883項(xiàng)商品實(shí)施低于最惠國稅率的進(jìn)口暫定稅率，這些商品包括食品、藥品以及信息技術(shù)產(chǎn)品。

Import duties will be eliminated on some raw materials for medicines for cancer, and on some special formula foods for sick children. The changes are meant to lower prices and ease the burden on patients' families, according to a statement posted on the Ministry of Finance website.
通知稱，對一些抗癌藥原料以及特殊患兒所需食品等實(shí)行零關(guān)稅，能降低這些藥品和食品的價(jià)格，減輕患者家庭的經(jīng)濟(jì)負(fù)擔(dān)。

>Waistlines continue to grow
超半數(shù)成人超重或肥胖

As the nation's economy and power continue to grow, Chinese people are getting taller, but they are also putting on weight at a worrisome rate, according to a report released by the National Health Commission on Wednesday. 
國家衛(wèi)生健康委12月23日發(fā)布報(bào)告稱，隨著我國經(jīng)濟(jì)和實(shí)力的增長，居民身高持續(xù)增長，但體重也以令人憂心的速度增加。

More than half of Chinese people age 18 and above are obese or overweight owing to unhealthy diets and static lifestyles, according to the report, which surveyed the nutritional condition and chronic diseases of people in China from 2015 to 2019. 
報(bào)告稱，由于不健康的飲食和缺乏運(yùn)動，中國18歲及以上居民中超過半數(shù)肥胖或超重。該報(bào)告對2015年至2019年中國居民的營養(yǎng)狀況和慢性病進(jìn)行了調(diào)查。

At the beginning of the century, less than one in three adult Chinese were considered obese or overweight, according to data from the commission.

The proportion of the younger population facing weight issues is also alarming.

The report shows that nearly 20 percent of youngsters aged 6 to 17 and more than 10 percent of children younger than 6 are either obese or overweight.

The average height of Chinese people aged 18 to 44 has increased to 169.7 centimeters for males and 158 cm for females, thanks to an increased intake of high-quality protein, such as dairy products, seafood and poultry, according to the report.
報(bào)告顯示，由于乳制品、海鮮和禽肉等優(yōu)質(zhì)蛋白的攝入增加，我國18至44歲的男性和女性平均身高分別增加到169.7厘米和158厘米。

>Depression rate reaches 2.1percent
我國抑郁癥患病率達(dá)2.1%

The prevalence rate of depression in China reached 2.1 percent last year, and that of anxiety disorders reached 4.98percent, said an official with the National Health Commission (NHC) at a Wednesday press conference.
12月23日，國家衛(wèi)健委疾控局局長常繼樂在新聞發(fā)布會上表示，我國去年抑郁癥患病率達(dá)2.1%，焦慮障礙患病率達(dá)4.98%。

The number of people with psychological problems and mental disorders in China is gradually increasing, said Chang Jile, head of the disease prevention and control bureau under the NHC, adding that the mental health problems of the public have become increasingly prominent.
常繼樂表示，我國居民心理行為問題和精神障礙人群逐漸增加，民眾心理健康問題日益凸顯。

The country set up a national prevention and control center on mental health earlier this year to address related problems, Chang said.
今年上半年，國家專門成立國家心理健康和精神衛(wèi)生防治中心，以解決相關(guān)問題。

China will strengthen the education of professionals in related areas, increase mental health awareness among the public, and pay more attention to vulnerable groups of people, Chang noted.
常繼樂指出，我國將加強(qiáng)對相關(guān)領(lǐng)域?qū)I(yè)人員的教育工作，提高公眾心理健康意識，更加關(guān)注弱勢群體。
