>New high-speed railway opens
商合杭高鐵已全線貫通
A new high-speed railway route connecting east and central China started operation on Sunday.
6月28日，一條連接我國東部和中部的新高鐵線路開通運營。
With a designed speed of 350 kph, the route connects the city of Shangqiu in central China's Henan province, and Hefei and Hangzhou, the capital cities of East China's Anhui and Zhejiang provinces.
該線路設(shè)計時速350公里，連接河南省商丘、安徽省省會合肥，以及浙江省省會杭州。
The northern section of the railway, from Shangqiu to Hefei, went into operation in December 2019, according to the China Railway Shanghai Group.
據(jù)國鐵集團介紹，該線路北段，即商丘至合肥段，于去年12月正式開通運營。
Covering a distance of 794.55 km, the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou high-speed railway is expected to spur the rise of the central region and boost the integrated regional development of the Yangtze River Delta.
商合杭高鐵全長794.55公里，該線路的貫通將促進我國中部地區(qū)崛起，推動長三角地區(qū)一體化發(fā)展。

>UK top destination for study
英國成首選留學(xué)目的地
For the first time, the UK has overtaken the US as the preferred overseas study destination for Chinese students, a report released Sunday showed.
6月28日發(fā)布的一份報告顯示，英國首次超越美國成為中國留學(xué)人群的首選目的國。
In the survey for the annual Report on Chinese Students' Overseas Study, the UK was preferred by 42% of respondents, up by 1 percentage point from last year.
在這份關(guān)于中國留學(xué)生海外學(xué)習(xí)的年度報告中，42%的受訪者更青睞英國，占比較去年上升1個百分點；
Study in the US was preferred by 37% of respondents, down by 6 percentage points.
37%的受訪者更青睞赴美國留學(xué)，占比下降了6個百分點。
Australia and Canada, both at 16%, tied as the third most popular destinations for overseas study, followed by Japan, Germany and Singapore.
澳大利亞、加拿大在最受青睞的海外留學(xué)目的地排行中并列第三，16%的受訪人群選擇了這兩個國家。
The report attributed the shift in students' preferences from the US to the UK to tense Sino-US relations in the past two years and the UK's advantages, such as the reopening of the Post Study Work Visa and quicker graduation requirements.
日本、德國和新加坡緊隨其后。報告認為，留學(xué)首選目的地從美國變?yōu)橛?，原因在于過去兩年里緊張的中美關(guān)系，以及英國再度放開畢業(yè)生工作簽證、更快的畢業(yè)要求等優(yōu)勢。

>Flies won't transmit COVID-19
專家:蚊蠅不會傳播新冠
With the arrival of summer, many people are worried about contracting COVID-19 through mosquitoes or flies.
隨著夏天的到來，許多人都擔(dān)心會通過蚊蟲、蒼蠅感染新冠肺炎。
In response to the concern, Wang Liping, a researcher from the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said there is not yet evidence of people getting infected with the novel coronavirus through a mosquito or fly. She made her remarks at a news conference on Saturday.
中國疾病預(yù)防控制中心研究員王麗萍對此作出了回應(yīng)，她在6月27日召開的一場新聞發(fā)布會上表示，目前未發(fā)現(xiàn)蚊蟲或蒼蠅導(dǎo)致人感染新冠病毒的證據(jù)。
She said the virus is mainly spread through respiratory droplets and physical contact.
新冠病毒主要通過呼吸道飛沫和物理接觸進行傳播。
However, Wang said mosquitoes and flies could transmit other contagious diseases, such as malaria and dengue fever.
不過，王麗萍表示，蚊蟲和蒼蠅具備傳播其他傳染病的風(fēng)險，如瘧疾、登革熱等。
She reminded people to guard against mosquito bites and keep food from flies in summer.
她提醒人們夏天做好防蚊蟲叮咬的保護措施，防止蒼蠅叮爬食物。

>A degree in Ninja studies

The first master's degree in Ninja studies was awarded in Japan's Mie University when Genichi Mitsuhashi, 45, completed the degree from the university, which is located in the area considered to be the place of origin of Ninjutsu.

Mitsuhashi started learning kung fu, horinji kempo and other martial arts in high school. He previously studied rural development in Kyoto University.

Ninjas are famous for being black-clad assassins who are incredibly secretive and stealthy, meaning they also had "comprehensive survival skills", he said.
