I'm Robert Walker. I'm at the same age as the People's Republic of China. I came to China to work at the Beijing Normal University as a professor of public policy.
我是Robert Walker, 和中華人民共和國(guó)的年齡一樣大。我來(lái)到中國(guó)，在北京師范大學(xué)擔(dān)任公共政策教授。

In the 15 years covered by the millennium development goals, China alone accounted for half of the total fall in poverty recorded globally. That's a great achievement. We know, too, that China will eradicate extreme poverty (in) 2020.
在聯(lián)合國(guó)千年發(fā)展目標(biāo)覆蓋的15年里（2010-2015），中國(guó)獨(dú)自完成了一半的全球脫貧任務(wù)。這是一個(gè)巨大的成就。我們還知道，中國(guó)將在2020年消滅絕對(duì)貧困。

It has done things which I don't think other countries could ever seek to do. It has national, provincial, local, individual policies targeted on alleviating poverty, seeking to work together. It has deployed 750000 or so public officials give them personal responsibility for helping particular named families to move out of poverty. We have cities on the eastern side of China sending resources and expertise to the west. We have commercial organizations operating in a similar way, supporting small- and medium-sized entrepreneurs in other parts of the country. These are achievements which I think could only be mobilized in China.
我認(rèn)為，中國(guó)做到了其他國(guó)家都做不到的事。中國(guó)制定了國(guó)家、省、地方、個(gè)人的扶貧政策，并力求實(shí)現(xiàn)這些政策的協(xié)同合作。還部署了大約750000名公務(wù)員負(fù)責(zé)幫助登記在冊(cè)的貧困家庭脫貧。東部城市輸送資源和知識(shí)技術(shù)到西部；同樣地，商業(yè)組織幫助其它地區(qū)的中小企業(yè)。我認(rèn)為，這些成就只有中國(guó)才能實(shí)現(xiàn)。
